It had been raining cats & dogs all day, and I was giving up hope. But I cleared my cards, charged the batteries and packed my gear to head out anyway. When I pulled out is was overcast and the sky looked like real trouble, but as I got closer to Red Hat, the clouds kept clearing, and by the time I got to the pit, all I felt was a cool breeze. A perfect night!
Death Cab for Cutie’s performance was terrific and their fans were highly appreciative. Benjamin Gibbard, the vocalist, which also played guitar really worked the full stage hard which provided for a great set of photos. This evening I brought two Canon 5D Mk II bodies using the Canon 70-200mm 2.8 and the Canon 24-70mm 2.8 lenses. My settings were at a shutter speed of 320 at F2.8 with an ISO of 1600. I should of dropped my shutter speed down a notch or two because my exposures were a bit dark for this set, but all in all, my favorite here is Mr. Gibbard with his hair flying about and at that instant the light was adequate and the faster shutter speed was able to nail the sweeping locks. Keeping in mind that the goal of each shoot is always to produce one top image, I’ll rest easy with this one.
