Florida Georgia Line: Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour at the Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh NC.
The Florida Georgia Line tour required us to shoot from the soundboard. At Walnut Creek Amphitheater the soundboard is a bit too far from the stage for a 70-200mm although that’s handy for full stage shots, and a bit too close for my 400mm. I do have a Canon Extender EF 1.4x II that I could use to make my 70-200mm shoot like a 98-280mm f4. Which I believe would of been the perfect optics for this one.
I’ll bring the Extender fixed to my 70-200 next time and try hand held. Usually when we are shooting from the soundboard, it seems the kind of show that asks us to shoot from this distance is lit pretty well, so we can crank up the shutter speed which would be required to stifle blur.
I’ll try hand holding the extended 70-200 ‘cause I’ll be toting the 400mm as well to guarantee I’ll get somethin!
I’m still using my old 5D Mark II as I still haven’t had time to read the instructions for the Mark IVs. So settings for the 400mm on this body were: 1/500 sec; f/5.6; ISO 800 for the first two openers which were receiving a ton of sun for fill, and 1/400 sec; f/4.0; ISO 1000 for the last two acts where the dominating light was coming from the crew, sunshine being nil.
