The Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) welcomes Folk, Country, Bluegrass and Americana songwriting hero John Prine to DPAC on Friday, November 1, 2019.
John Prine is a thoughtful wordsmith and an unassuming storyteller. HIs lyrical craftsmanship is richly showcased in songs like “Angel From Montgomery”, “Sam Stone”, “ Spanish Pipedream” “Hello in There” and many more relevant tunes. His successful career spans an incredible 48 years.
The two time Grammy winner brings his “Tree of Forgiveness” World Tour to DPAC along with special guest Ben Dickey. Prine is a Rock Hall of Fame songwriter nominee; a member of the Nashville Songwriting Hall of Fame and a PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient. His newest album and namesake for the tour “Tree of Forgiveness” has reached number 5 on the Billboard 200 charts.
Special guest Ben Dickey is 42 years old and hails from LIttle Rock. He is both an actor and musician and portrayed singer Blaze Foley in the starring role of the 2018 film “Blaze”. The folk artist promises to be an inspirational opening act for Prine.
If you are a fan of the likes of Townes Van Zant and Steve Goodman, you will thoroughly enjoy a night with John Prine and Ben Dickey. An autumn date at Durham’s premier venue will set the mood just right for a night with this pair.
