BAND TOGETHER: Raising awareness through music, generates over one million dollars for fighting child hunger.
Earlier this summer Band Together featured St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Toots and The Maytals and Terminator X for their major fund drive the 1st of June. Everything went really well, a huge success (see link below to my article about the show), all except for Paul Janeway, the vocalist for St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Paul had a case of laryngitis. He had just had his appendix out several days before the show, and on the night of the concert had laryngitis which prevented him from performing. He promised to come back later this summer to sing for his fans and honor the many ticket holders. He did keep his promise to his lucky fans, and this time, along with The Connells for the opener, we all enjoyed another great Band Together Concert. Two in one summer!
If you would like to see photos of the event earlier this summer, go ahead a check the link out below. For recent photos of St. Paul & The Broken Bones with The Connells, keep on scrolling!
First a note from Band Together:
Inter-Faith Food Shuttle
Each year, we select a different nonprofit in the Raleigh area to partner with on a fundraising mission to raise over $1 Million through the power of live music. Our 2019 partnership with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is committed to fighting child hunger in the Triangle. The $1 Million+ raised during our partnership will fund the Child Food Hub, a 7,000 sq. ft. warehouse dedicated solely to fighting child food insecurity through programs like BackPack Buddies and School Pantries.
The Food Shuttle is a nonprofit that distributes 6 million pounds of healthy food, 42 percent of which is fresh produce, in its seven-county service area surrounding Raleigh, NC. The organization feeds people through programs including BackPack Buddies, Mobile Markets, Grocery Bags for Seniors and School Pantries, and by partnering with nearly 200 local agencies to reach people at their point of need.
