Outlaw Music Festival
Coastal Credit Union Amphitheatre Raleigh, NC
Sunday, September 15, 2019 , Raleigh’s Walnut Creek Amphitheatre hosts the Outlaw Music Festival with Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and Allison Kraus performing. Doors will open at 4:00 PM for this special Live Nation event.
Willie is fondly known to many as the Red Headed Stranger as well as the coolest outlaw of them all, At 86 years old, guitarist/singer/songwriter WIllie Nelson is one of the most popular country/ country rock musicians of his time. The Texas cowboy turned hippie has a reputation as a rebel and a renegade in his own right. A proponent of marijuana and animal rights, clean fuels and a deep love for his fellow Americans ( as well as his dealings with the IRS) have kept Willie a controversial and much loved artist for generations. After 60 years in the music business, his popularity has not diminished, rather it has grown by leaps and bounds. The grammy winning artist was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1993 and received a Kennedy Center honor in 1998.
Acclaimed Blues singer/songwriter/guitarist Bonnie Raitt has a deep connection and long history in the music business. Her father John Raitt was an aspiring musician. She first started playing the guitar when she was eight years old. During the 1970s her roots influences took her into the world of folk, rock and country rock. And she excelled in all of them. Her vocals show a sense of strength and conviction and she often blends in a sinewy touch of heartbreak. Since 1980 she has won countless awards including multiple Grammys. Several of her albums have gone platinum or multi-platinum. Raitt turns 70 this November, but there are no signs of her slacking off or slowing down.
Allison Krauss, the baby of the bunch , turns 48 on July 23rd, 2019. The bluegrass singer, fiddler, violinist, mandolinist, songwriter and more has had phenomenal success in Bluegrass, Country and Americana genres. Her popularity and her sales have soared for decades. She, too, has won multiple Grammies. Whether teaming up with Union Station or getting it done solo, her voice is powerful and angelic.
Her performances are both riveting and surreal. Krauss is tied for first place for the most awarded female of all time with close to 30 wins , double digits for both country music and Grammy wins.
I’m definitely not one to promote or participate in threesomes, but this will be one I don’t miss. You shouldn’t either. Close out the summer with Live Nation’s Outlaw Music Festival in Raleigh on September 15, 2019 at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre.
